About this memory

Gertie and Robert Hutchinson in back garden of Antrim House.

“When we were evacuated to Portpatrick in September 1939 we lived initially in a hotel in the High Road where about twenty of us, with helpers, were sent. The owner became ill and we were split up and moved to Antrim House where a single lady and her aunt looked after initially eight, then six, of us. The house is now part of a hotel in the main street.” – Trudy Thomas (née Hutchinson) [2004]
