“This is a photograph of me, at a party organised to celebrate VE Day. My ‘fairy’ outfit would have been made by my mother who was a tailor and would almost cetainly have been ‘recycled’ from a garment of hers. Given the short supply of materials, everyone has made a great effort to participate and the costumes look good.” – Jean Watt
