“This photograph shows my father at work (probably ‘News of the World’ or ‘Daily Express’). He was a compositor and worked at several newspaper/publishing houses.

“I recall he frequently changed jobs – sometimes working nights and part/week to accommodate Sunday newspaper deadlines. I believe it was normal to do this within the printing trade. This enabled him to spend a lot of time with us during our childhood, which was probably, on reflection, quite unusual for those times!” – Jean Watt
