Newtongrange Gala Day Procession c.1988

1988
Newtongrange Gala Day Procession c.1988

About this memory

“The procession near to the Welfare for Miners Hall. I wonder who won the best dressed award? Cowboys and Indians for the older participants, no doubt going back to the days of their youth. Followed by the BBs or Scouts.

“The Scouts had a hall next to the park. The Main Street closed. It is very narrow anyhow. No doubt when all was over the enjoyment of a pint or two would round the day off – another tradition!” – Evelyn Muir (née Mobbs)
