Rank’s Flour Mill 1960s
1965

About this memory
To the rear, the West Breakwater. Much of the land between the mill and the breakwater has been reclaimed.
The area to the left of where the mill once stood is now occupied by Chancelot Mill.
Work on the West Breakwater started before the Second World War and was being carried out by a Dutch firm. Building stopped during the war and the dredgers were tied up in Leith Docks. The breakwater was completed after the war came to an end.
Photograph taken from one of the towers (Grampian House and Cairngorm House, both now demolished) on Lindsay Road.
