Ships Under Attack In Mediterranean 1940s

Ships Under Attack In Mediterranean 1940s

About this memory

“The photo was taken from the ship father [Ernset Mobbs] served on. The ship is maybe a cruiser or minesweeper, so there were probably U-boats about. In the distance it looks like a rock surface which is more than likely ‘Gib’, as father called it.

“Never keeping details of what was what and only coming across the photos many years after his death, it was something he talked about which fascinated me. It is also possible the darkened dots may have been from gun on board his ship, so it has also been air attack.” – Evelyn Muir (née Mobbs)
