Unidentified Ship Of The Royal Navy Fleet 1940s

Unidentified Ship Of The Royal Navy Fleet 1940s

About this memory

“Some size of ship, tonnage must have been tremendous. Could be a crusier. Many of these ships were used to transfer men from one boat to other by the bosun’s chair – ‘Look Mum, no hands!’. Ships, like aeroplanes, have no brakes. Stuck in the middle of nowhere, that was the only way.” – Evelyn Muir (née Mobbs)

Photograph from collection of Ernest Mobbs who served in both World Wars.
