Women’s Land Army Girls On Steps Of Glencorse House, August 1946
1946

About this memory
Shiona Gunn with other members of the Women’s Land Army.
“This was us after a long day at the harvest – I am on the far left at the back row, complete with turban on my head. Glencorse House was used as a hostel for ‘Land Girls’. We were right beside Glencorse Barracks and used to invite the troops who were recuperating – having been prisoners of war of the Japanese – to a social evening (only tea and biscuits). We used to play hide ‘n’ seek in the little graveyard where Burke and Hare did their graverobbing in the grounds of Glencorse House.” – Shiona Fraser [2004]
